Samsung One UI 2.5 vs MIUI 12.0.3.0 : Which is better

Custom Android skins are much popular nowadays than Google's stock Android skin due to the customizations and features that they provide. In today's post, we will look at some of the major differences between the two most popular custom android skins - Samsung's OneUI and Xiaomi's MIUI

OneUI vs MIUI

Samsung's OneUI and Xiaomi's MIUI are a couple of the most customizable Android custom skins available which offer customization of almost everything in the UI. Both the skins have a lot of features like theme store, home screen customizations, and more.

User Interface

Samsung has improved itself a lot in terms of user interface as OneUI brings many new changes in the design. With OneUI the look and feel are quite refreshing as it brings the new rounded icon packs, revamped notification panel, personalized settings menu with rounded corners.

Whereas with Xiaomi's MIUI, the user interface is quite minimal but somehow similar to IOS in some aspects like notification shade, but with the upcoming updates Xiaomi is also adding an app drawer and many more new features.

Home Screen Customizations

No doubt both the launcher offers us to customize almost everything in the UI

Samsung's OneUI offers us to customize the home screen layout, change the home screen grid and App screen grid size, app icon badges, swipe-down gestures, and more.

Whereas in Xiaomi's MIUI we can customize the app categories, it also allows us to change the icon packs, size of the app and home screen layout, notification badges, and more.

Special Features

Special features in OneUI include Easy Mode, Accidental Touch Protection, Increase Touch Sensitivity, Edge Screen, which includes many Edge lighting and Edge panels, font size and style changes, and more.

Some of the Advanced features include Link to windows, Smart pop-up, Direct share, One-handed mode, motion & Gestures, privacy manager, Dual Messenger, and more.

Xiaomi's MIUI has added the color scheme, System font, Text size, VR customizations, Full-screen mode, Control center, and more.

Some of the Special features include a Video toolbox, Floating window, Second space, privacy protection Quick ball, and more.

Gestures

Both Samsung and Xiaomi's skin supports Android 10 Gestures support but the implementation is different in both the skins.

Samsung's OneUI includes swipe from the bottom, and swipe from sides and bottom, and has the option to change the back gesture sensitivity, and also enable/disable button to hide the keyboard.

whereas in Xiaomi's MIUI we have only swipe from sides and bottom but we have some special options like double-check for gestures while playing games or playing videos, and go back to the previous app.

Which skin is Better

Both Samsung and Xiaomi's skins are packed with customizations and offer many features that are useful in our day-to-day routine but in my opinion, the MIUI experience is more smooth while with OneUI lag is sometimes experienced in normal surfing.
